Centennial Square came alive with vibrant colors, lively music, and the warm spirit of community as the Filipino community in Victoria celebrated Filipino Heritage Month and Philippine Independence Day at the annual “Mabuhay! Celebrating Philippine Culture” estival, held last June 14–15, 2025.

Organized by the Victoria Filipino Canadian Association (VFCA), Bayanihan Cultural and Housing Society (BCHS), Victoria Filipino Canadian Caregivers Association (VFCCA), and Victoria Filipino Canadian Seniors Association (VFCSA), the event brought together Filipinos, friends, and neighbors from across Greater Victoria.

Consul Analyn Ratonel, representing the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, joined community members along with Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto, MP Will Greaves, Minister Ravi Parmar, MLA Nina Krieger, Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock, and Victoria Police Chief Del Manak. Together, they celebrated the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Filipino-Canadians.

The two-day festival featured cultural performances, traditional dances, live music, artisan crafts, and delicious Filipino food—offering visitors an authentic taste of the Philippines. More than just entertainment, Mabuhay! served as a gathering place to connect, share stories, and strengthen bonds.

This year’s celebration was made possible with the generous support of the Government of British Columbia and the City of Victoria, through their Festival Grants and Anti-Racism Grant programs.

For the Filipino community in Victoria, Mabuhay! is not just a festival—it’s a tradition that celebrates identity, fosters understanding, and welcomes everyone to experience the warmth and resilience of the Filipino spirit.
